General Summary

The HR Manager will play a pivotal role in fostering a productive, compliant, and engaging work environment for our salaried and hourly employees across various states. This individual will manage all facets of human resources, including recruitment, management of apprenticeship programs, compliance, employee relations, performance management, benefits administration, and security clearance administration. At a rapidly growing start-up, the HR Manager will lead efforts to scale HR operations, including the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs), processes, and technology to support the company’s growth trajectory. Additionally, this individual will contribute to establishing and managing HR practices for overseas entities, including potential manufacturing, design, and engineering operations, ensuring alignment with global compliance standards and best practices.

Human Resources Manager Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment and Talent Acquisition
    • Manage full cycle recruiting for salaried, hourly, and contract positions.
    • Partner with hiring managers to identify talent needs and develop job postings and interview processes that reflect the requirements and roles of both salaried and hourly employees.
    • Conduct interviews, coordinate hiring processes, and oversee onboarding to ensure a positive employee experience.
  • HR Systems and Compliance
    • Serve as the primary administrator for BambooHR, managing payroll, time tracking, and leave management.
    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including those in multi-state jurisdictions.
    • Oversee employee handbook updates and maintain knowledge of regulatory changes affecting HR policies.
  • Employee Relations and Engagement
    • Serve as a trusted advisor for both salaried and hourly employees, addressing workplace concerns and fostering a positive and inclusive work culture.
    • Tailor engagement initiatives to ensure relevance and impact for both groups of employees.
    • Develop and implement engagement initiatives to support retention and employee satisfaction.
  • Performance Management and Development
    • Support managers in conducting performance reviews and professional development plans.
    • Coordinate training and development opportunities to enhance employee skills and career growth.
  • Benefits Administration
    • Oversee health, dental, vision, 401(k), and other employee benefits.
    • Manage annual enrollment processes and liaise with benefit providers.
  • Scaling HR and Recruiting Operations
    • Develop and implement scalable HR processes, SOPs, and systems to support company growth.
    • Evaluate and optimize the use of HR technology, including BambooHR, to enhance operational efficiency.
    • Establish and lead recruiting strategies to attract top talent for both domestic and international roles.
  • Global HR Management
    • Assist in setting up HR policies and procedures for overseas entities, ensuring compliance with local regulations.
    • Support the integration of international talent and operations, including manufacturing, design, and engineering teams.
    • Partner with leadership to align HR practices across global locations and support cross-border collaboration.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of HR management experience, including scaling HR operations in a rapidly growing organization.
  • Proven track record in creating and implementing SOPs, processes, and HR technology systems to support organizational growth.
  • Experience managing HR practices for international entities and navigating global compliance requirements is a strong plus.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems; experience with BambooHR is a strong plus.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations, including FMLA, ADA, and state-specific mandates.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative mindset.
  • DoD Secret Security Clearance, or the ability to obtain one, is a plus but not required.
